Seeking the intercession of men and women who have died with a reputation for holiness is a common practice in the Catholic Church. Some favors received through the intercession of Dora del Hoyo.
Eight years after her death, Bishop Javier Echevarría presided at the opening of the canonical process on the life and virtues of Dora del Hoyo, the first numerary assistant in Opus Dei.
Dora del Hoyo was born in 1914 in Boca de Huergaro, Spain. She moved to Rome in 1946 to help in the household administration of the first center of Opus Dei in the Italian capital. She is buried in the Crypt of Our Lady of Peace, the church of the Prelature of Opus Dei, located also in Rome.
