The Prayer Card of St. Josemaría Escrivá in Yoruba

The Prayer Card of St. Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei has been published in the Yoruba language in Nigeria. Yoruba, is the native tongue of an approximately 28 million people found in at least three countries in West Africa: Nigeria, Benin and Togo. The language is also spoken by some communities in Brazil in South America.

The states within southwestern Nigeria were Yoruba is the native language include Lagos State (the commercial centre of Nigeria), as well as Ọyọ, Ọsun, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Kwara States, and some parts of Kogi State.

Since Opus Dei began in Nigeria in 1965, stable apostolic work has begun in some cities of Oyo while several faithful of the Prelature as well as cooperators are present in the other Yoruba speaking states.

Devotion to St. Josemaría has grown so widely that a prayer card in the native tongue has been a long-term desire of many people.
